How much does it cost to sponsor a child?
$30 per month sponsorship brings hope to a girl.  That's only $360 per year.  Your prayers will be a vital spiritual support to her as she grows up in this changing world.

How often do I pay?
Sponsorship may be paid monthly, quarterly, half-yearly or annually.  You can pay by periodical payment or a check or money order payable to "RMM" or "Ramabai Mukti Mission."

Supporters in some countries are sent a Payment Record Booklet to help you keep track of when your payments are due.  Supporters sending payments to the American Council will receive a monthly contribution receipt and payment reminder.  Not all Mukti councils send out reminders.  However, you will be furnished with an annual statement verifying your contribution for tax purposes when applicable.

What happens to my money?
All money sent for specific children is put into the following funds.
1. General Support Fund: covering individual's basic requirements.
2. Education Fund: providing equal opportunity for each girl to go as far as possible with her education and further training.

We are a member of the Evangelical Council For Financial Accountability.  (Click Here to view EFCA Website.)

Will I hear from the child I sponsor?
At Christmas you will receive a greeting from her, and a progress report is sent on alternate years.  The monthly Mukti Prayer Letter contains information on one Flower Family.  You may expect to read about your child once a year.

Can I write to the child?
Yes, the girls love to receive short letters in simple English, and photos.  They proudly show others their letter from their "auntie" or "uncle".

Will the child write back?
The girls love to receive letters, but for most of the girls it is not possible to write back in English.  They speak Marathi.  Although taught English as a subject in high school, many are not fluent enough to speak or write it.  Many of the children's "matrons" do not know sufficient English to help the children answer letters.

Can I send them a gift?
You may send a monetary gift to your regional council office for birthdays with your regular support.  We recommend about $10.  Birthday or Christmas gift money is pooled so that each girl, some of whom don't have sponsors, will each receive a gift.  This avoids conflict and enables all children to share equally in the blessings.

You MAY NOT send packages to the children.  Not only may items be confiscated by Indian Customs, but the mission could be in danger of appearing to receive contraband goods.  At NO time may you send money directly.  It is a punishable offence in India to receive money through the mail.  All money clearly marked "Birthday/Christmas gift" will be forwarded 100% to Mukti, India.

How long do I need to sponsor the child?
The girls need a sponsor for the entire time they are a dependent staying at Mukti Mission.  It is up to you how long you choose to sponsor her for, but we trust you will be involved for some years.  Many of our sponsors have been helping their Mukti girl for over 10 years and found it to be a blessing.  If your circumstances change, please let us know if you find it necessary to discontinue your sponsorship.

What happens when the child I sponsor leaves Mukti?
You will be notified if your child leaves the mission for any reason.  When an older girl becomes financially independent after training, or if she marries, we will inform you and ask whether you would like to sponsor another girl.

I'm ready to start.  What now?
Write your closest council office and send your first sponsorship payment.  We will mail the girl's photo, a brief history and some useful information.
